Tool Bucket For Cabinetmakers

My installation Bucket

My installation Bucket

An essential part of any good cabinetmakers tool inventory should be an installation kit. When you think of tools for cabinetmaking you must consider what tools you will need to install them on the job site. I highly recommend that you invest in a tool bucket that contains the most needed tools to help complete the task.

When your on the job it’s much more efficient to have an array of usefull installation tools in close reach. These tool buckets allow you to bring those items and the provide a way for you to organize those items to be easily accessed. I do not recommend that every time you go out to install cabinets that you collect tools from your shop, hoping you didn’t forget something needed, and take the chance of not being able to complete the job. Put a installer’s tool buck together using a five gallon

container like a drywall bucket and purchase one of those bucket liners from Lowes or HomeDepot. All those little things like nail sets, drill bits, measuring tape, hammer, cordless drill wit h battery charger, level, touch-up kit, sandpaper, countersinks, hand saw, files, screw drivers, etc. Add tools as needed. Keep this tool bucket separate from you shop tools. This bucket is for “grab and go” and should be kept ready for use at all times. Having a bucket like this will prevent  you from forgetting something and will save you lots of time.

Delta 10″ UNISAW

by on Jun.06, 2009, under Table Saws

This is one of the tools for cabinetmaking  that I recommend. The Delta 10″ UNISAW model 36-L352 with a 52″  Biesemeyer fence is, in my opinion, probably one of the best table saws Delta has ever made. There are so many quality features in this saw that anyone thinking of purchasing a cabinet saw for their shop should put this table saw at the top of their list.

A staple in any cabinet shop, this cabinetmaker’s  table saw is the most indispensable piece of equipment you could have. The accuracy, reliability, and ease of use are critical to cutting parts for cabinets. The 10″ Delta

UNISAW with a 3hp motor and the Beisemeyer fence system is a high

Using the EasyCoper on the job

When I was in the field installing,  the one pain was when I had to run the crown. As most millwork installers will attest to is that they went through alot of coping saw blades. If you were coping pine or some other soft wood it wasn’t to bad, but, coping oak on the other hand or any other hardwood was tough on your blades. It didn’t take long for your hands to tire either. Tools for cabinetmaking should, and do, include special purpose tools that aid in the completion of your project.

Completed Coffer Ceiling

Completed Coffer Ceiling

The patented EasyCoper coping saw jig ( Watch the video below ) is one of the tools, along with a jigsaw, that you should cary in you tool bucket. This jig significantly helped cut done on coping time. The coffer ceiling and crown shown, put up in early 2008,  had hundreds of inside corners and the installer was thankful that he purchased this jig by Mcfeely. His setup was efficient and he was able to run 2 to 3 coffers a day ( all other trim included within the coffer. ) Thanks to this jig system our onsite costs were cut by 20 %.

I would highly recommend getting a pair of these jigs to add to your tools for cabinetmaking. With a little practice you will fear coping no more! This jig is  “MADE IN USA”
